This historical biography traces the life of William John Little, born with a clubfoot deformity, who overcame adversity and through keen observation connected the cause of birth defects with pre and post-natal problems. He was a pioneer in the diagnosis and treatment of children with cerebral palsy; founder of the first orthopedic hospital in Great Britain; author of five books on orthopedic problems such as clubfoot, scoliosis, ankylosis, amputations and orthopedic surgery; he was dubbed "The Apostle of Tenotomy"; and for 24 years served at the London Hospital as a physician, educator and lecturer.

The author spent almost six years involved in preparation of this book including two trips to England for on-site research.
